At Tidal Roots Academy, we blend hands-on, nature-based learning with rich unit studies designed to engage multi-age learners. We primarily pull our curriculum from two acclaimed unit study programs: Gather 'Round and Campfire Curriculum.Gather 'Round Homeschool: A Charlotte Mason–inspired, thematic unit study approach. It weaves core academic subjects—such as language arts, science, history, geography, and art—around a central theme (like ecosystem studies or historical eras). It uses rich living books, meaningful discussion, and multi-level workbooks that allow kids of different ages to study the same core concept at their own developmental depth. Campfire Curriculum: An experiential, highly interactive unit study program designed around core real-world topics. Campfire focuses on active family/group-style learning where students participate in guided discoveries, hands-on activities, and deep-dive discussions that connect classroom concepts directly to the real world.
Together, these curricula allow us to ditch dry textbooks in favor of immersive, integrated learning that sparks natural curiosity out in the field!
