Born from a simple conviction...
Tidal Roots Academy was born from a simple conviction: children thrive
when raised in community, in nature, and in faith. "Sand & Soil" isn't a
schedule — it's a way of life shared by families who believe the Lowcountry itself is a classroom.
03
Venture & Entrepreneurship
Our Tidal Venture Studio empowers students to move beyond theoretical concepts and launch real-world businesses. This hands-on program cultivates innovation, financial literacy, and problem-solving skills, preparing them for future success.

-
Design, production, and marketing of student-led projects.
At Tidal Roots Academy, our educational philosophy is translated into daily action through four foundational pillars. These pillars shape our curriculum, protect our tight-knit environment, and guide our students as they grow from contemplation to capability.
Our Philosophy
01
Biblical Stewardship
At Tidal Roots Academy, faith is woven into every aspect of our curriculum. We believe that true education nurtures the whole child—mind, body, and spirit—and inspires a deep reverence for God's creation. Our approach grounds students in spiritual truths, fostering character and purpose.
-
Character formation through virtue development
-
Creation care and environmental stewardship

We cultivate strong readers, clear thinkers, and curious learners through a rigorous, whole-child education that engages both mind and body in the natural world.
-
Hands-on, experiential learning that connects concepts to real-world applications.
-
Emphasis on critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative inquiry.
-
Individualized pacing and support to foster intrinsic motivation and mastery.

that build confidence, resilience, and a deep respect for the natural world around them.

Meet the Founders & the Farmers
Tidal Roots Academy was born out of a shared vision to create a unique, distraction-free educational ecosystem for our own children and local homeschooling families. As Johns Island residents and parents homeschooling our four children, we wanted to build a program that bridges intentional, faith-based academics with the rugged outdoor skills necessary for a self-sufficient life.
Jerad is an entrepreneur and former technology project manager with a deep background in wilderness survival and structural design. He leads our Wayfinding and Venture Studio tracks, teaching students everything from primitive engineering and navigation to business profit margins. Jerad’s mission is to transform morning critical thinking into real-world afternoon capability.
In 2015, Peter and Mary Conway stepped in to rescue a historic piece of Johns Island agricultural land from being subdivided into residential lots. Driven by a deep sense of stewardship, they founded Full Circle Farm to protect the local farming economy against urban sprawl. Today, their vibrant, working farm is home to horses, goats, ducks, and collaborative partnerships with local growers. Guided by their faith and the Golden Rule, Peter and Mary are dedicated to nurturing the land, serving their community, and helping families grow deep roots in local, sustainable agriculture.
